How much does Etsy take per sale?

For a US seller, Etsy takes a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on every sale. On a $20 item that is $2.35 (about 11.8%), so you receive $17.65. If the buyer came through an Offsite Ad, Etsy takes 15% more (12% for shops over $10,000 a year), capped at $100. Fees from Etsy's Help Center, checked 1 November 2026.

How to use the Etsy fee calculator

      Pricing

Etsy pricing calculator: price for the profit you want

Etsy's percentages come off the price, so you can't just add the fees on top. Work backwards from your profit:

      Price = (profit + your cost + $0.45) ÷ 0.905
$0.45 is the listing fee plus the 25¢ processing fee; 0.905 is what is left after 6.5% and 3%. For a $10 profit on an item that costs you $5: $15.45 ÷ 0.905 = $17.07.

Check it: on $17.07 Etsy takes $0.20 + $1.11 + $0.76 = $2.07, you receive $15.00, and after your $5 cost you keep $10.00. The formula skips shipping, tax and Offsite Ads; the calculator's Price for a profit includes them all and is exact to the cent.

      Leave room for Offsite Ads

You can't choose which sales come through an Offsite Ad. If a shop over $10,000 a year must take part, price so that a sale with the 12% fee still makes money: in the calculator, choose the 12% option and press Price for a profit.

      Pay less

6 ways to keep more of each Etsy sale

      1. Sell bundles

The $0.20 and $0.25 are charged per order. A $30 bundle pays $3.30 in fees; six $5 orders pay $5.58.

      2. Price in your bank's currency

A listing in another currency costs 2.5% to convert every sale.

      3. Watch your Offsite Ads share

Under $10,000 a year you can opt out of Offsite Ads in your shop settings; above it, build the 12% into your prices.

      4. Raise the price, not the shipping

Fees are charged on shipping too, so moving cost from shipping to the price changes nothing, but "free shipping" can lift sales.

      5. Use multi-quantity listings for digital files

One listing can sell many times; it renews for $0.20 per sale either way.

      6. Give the buyers you bring yourself your own store

Followers from social media and your email list don't need a marketplace: on your own store no marketplace fee applies.

      Etsy or your own store

Etsy fees vs selling on your own store

Selling a $25 digital product 40 times a month ($1,000), here is what you keep on each platform after its own fee, card processing and the monthly plan, each on its plan that keeps the most at this volume. Etsy brings buyers who search its marketplace; your own store keeps more of every sale you bring yourself.

      FAQ

      Questions about Etsy fees

How much does Etsy take from a $20 sale?

For a US seller, $2.35: the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee ($1.30) and 3% + $0.25 payment processing ($0.85). You receive $17.65. If the buyer came through an Offsite Ad, add 15% ($3.00), for a total of $5.35.

How much does Etsy take from a $100 sale?

For a US seller, $9.95: $0.20 listing, $6.50 transaction fee and $3.25 payment processing, so you receive $90.05. If the buyer came through an Offsite Ad, Etsy takes $15 more (15%), $24.95 in all.

Does Etsy take 20% or 30% of a sale?

No. On a normal sale Etsy takes about 10%: 6.5% + 3% plus 45¢, so 9.95% of a $100 sale, and a larger share of cheap items. Only a sale through an Offsite Ad gets near 25% (15% more, capped at $100).

What are the Etsy fees in 2026?

For a US seller using Etsy Payments: a $0.20 listing fee per listing (renewed for $0.20 when a multi-quantity listing sells), a 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing per order. Offsite Ads cost 15% of an order they bring (12% for shops over $10,000 a year), capped at $100. A 2.5% conversion fee applies when your listing currency differs from your bank's.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the 3% payment processing fee are both charged on the shipping you charge as well as the item price, so $5 of shipping costs about $0.48 in fees.

Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?

Etsy collects and pays US sales tax on your orders for you, so the tax is not your income. The 3% payment processing fee is charged on the full order total, including that tax. Type your buyer's sales tax rate in the calculator to include it.

How do I calculate Etsy fees?

Add $0.20 for the listing, 6.5% of the price plus shipping, and 3% of the order total plus $0.25. For a $30 item with no shipping: $0.20 + $1.95 + $1.15 = $3.30, so you receive $26.70.

How should I price my Etsy item to make a profit?

Add the profit you want, your cost, $0.20 and $0.25, then divide by 0.905 (one minus 6.5% and 3%). For a $10 profit on an item that costs you $5: $15.45 ÷ 0.905 = $17.07. The "Price for a profit" button works it out with your shipping, tax and Offsite Ads.

What are Etsy Offsite Ads fees?

When a buyer finds you through an Etsy ad on another site and buys, Etsy charges 15% of that order. Shops that made $10,000 or more in a year pay 12% and cannot opt out. The fee is capped at $100 per order.

Does Etsy have a monthly fee?

Not on the Standard plan: you pay per listing and per sale. Etsy Plus is an optional paid subscription with extra tools, and Offsite Ads are charged only on the orders they bring.

Is there a free Etsy fee calculator Excel template?

Yes. Download the free template under the calculator: the same Etsy fees, your profit and margin, a price for the profit you want and a table of common prices, with formulas you can change.

Are these fees for sellers outside the US?

The calculator uses the fees for a US seller with Etsy Payments. Payment processing differs by country, and sellers in the UK, Canada and some other countries also pay a regulatory operating fee.

Is this Etsy fee calculator free, and can I put it on my site?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no ads, and nothing you type leaves your browser. Open "Add this calculator to your site" under the calculator and paste the code into your page.
